Resilient Minds: Christ-centered Mental Health Curriculum from Concordia Publishing House helps you equip your students with the resiliency and strategies they need for the ups and downs of life.
Concern for the mental health of young people has exponentially increased in recent years. How do Christian schools help their students? They introduce them to biblical, research-based curriculum on mental health with Resilient Minds: Christ-Centered Mental Health Curriculum.
Approaches topics through a biblical lens, emphasizing students’ dignity and value in Jesus Christ
Promotes wellness in all areas of students’ lives—psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual—in a positive and constructive way
Created and vetted by experts, including leaders in Christian higher education and a licensed mental health counselor
Support students in the middle school years and beyond with materials for 5th–6th grade and 7–8th grade. Both age levels cover the same twelve lesson topics, but are differentiated to fit students’ maturity and experiences. Both age groups have a designated student book and teacher guide.
Each teacher guide contains clear, thorough directions for the instruction of Resilient Minds, with learning objectives, contextual information, and helpful lesson extenders. In addition, the teacher guide includes detailed notes for each slide of the accompanying PowerPoint, setting you up for a successful and constructive teaching time.
Each student book includes four pages for each lesson. Students can explore and reflect on the given topics. Each lesson roots itself in Scripture by opening with a Bible verse, then provides interactive charts and questions, insightful graphics, and tips for mental wellness.
Resilient Minds for High School covers the same topics as the younger age levels, but at a more mature level. If students used Resilient Minds in middle school, this content will help solidify what they’ve already learned, while students who are new to Resilient Minds are also able to jump right in.
Just like the 5th-6th and 7th-8th teacher guides, this guide offers Bible verses, learning objectives, teacher notes, lesson extenders, wellness strategies, and professional counselor notes to foster an engaged learning environment. Don’t forget that PowerPoint slides for each lesson are included, too!
Featuring the staples seen in the other age levels’ student books (Scripture, charts, questions, graphics, and tips), the High School Student book goes deeper. Note how lesson 9 talks about digital boundaries in particular—a topic high schoolers face to a greater extent than younger tweens.
This handbook gives teens articles, Bible verses, devotions, and activities they can work through, either one-by-one or by topic. Articles like “What do I do if I need help?” (pictured) help to point teens to healthy strategies and support systems.
While not required for Resilient Minds instruction, this passalong book is sure to be a blessing to every teen it reaches.
Each lesson pairs with a digital PowerPoint presentation—about fifteen slides long—that displays lesson themes, Bible verses, goals, charts, and more in an engaging, visually-pleasing format. It’s included as a digital deliverable with the purchase of a teacher guide.
Each lesson comes with a digital, editable letter that teachers can send home to families. Letters communicate what topics are being discussed and provide additional insights and conversation starters. It’s included as a digital deliverable with the purchase of a teacher guide.
Just like being a teen, parenting a teen is challenging, too. This Handbook for Parents features informative articles, comforting Bible verses, and encouraging devotions to support parents as they support their teens.
