Session 1

The Beginning of Our Story: Genesis 3:1–15

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14

Your story starts in Genesis, with the creation of Adam and Eve. Learn what it means to be made in God’s image and how even in the Book of Genesis God promised that His Son would save us.

Session 2

God’s Plan for Abraham: Genesis 12:1–8; 22:1–14

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God. Psalm 36:7

Through Abraham, God chose His holy people. Today, you become part of God’s kingdom through the sacrifice of Christ, His Son, and Baptism in God’s name.

Session 3

The Passover Lamb: Exodus 12:1–13, 29–42

You shall be My treasured possession. Exodus 19:5

God spared the Israelites on account of the blood of their lambs on their doorframes during the Passover. In the same way, He spares you on account of the sacrifice of Christ, the Lamb of God, upon the cross.

Session 4

Slaying the Giant: 1 Samuel 17:4–18, 38–51

Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome. Nehemiah 4:14

David faced a terrible foe in the giant Goliath, but with God’s help he won a victory for Israel. For you, Christ faced an even greater foe, death, and became victorious for all mankind in His resurrection.

Session 5

Delivered from the Lions: Daniel 6:1–23

You are the God who works wonders. Psalm 77:14

Daniel could not have survived the fierce lions in the den without the work of the angel of the Lord. You were born trapped with sin in the same way, but Christ binds all sins to Himself and makes atonement for them.

Session 6

Jesus Is Baptized into God’s Plan: Matthew 3:13–17

But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:11

God said He was well pleased with Christ, His Son, during the Baptism at Jordan. As you put on Christ and become a child of God through Baptism, you also become pleasing to God!

Session 7

Jesus Preaches the Kingdom of Heaven: Matthew 4:3–11; Luke 4:31–44

Let the heavens praise Your wonders, O Lord. Psalm 89:5

In His life, Christ faced many temptations, but He was unwavering in His mission of salvation. You, too, will be tempted, but through the gift of faith you receive God’s kingdom of heaven.

Session 8

God’s Plan of Salvation Completed: Luke 23:26, 32–46

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 3:16

The repentant thief on the cross begged Christ to remember him, and Christ promises to do so. You faithfully pray the same, and Christ remembers and saves you in His death and resurrection.

Session 9

Jesus Conquers Death: John 20:11–18

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

In His death, Christ satisfied the Law, and He did not remain in the tomb. Through this you no longer need to fear death, because you have received the hope and promise of resurrection.

Session 10

The End of Our Story: Revelation 21:1–8; 22:1–14

You will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me. Matthew 19:21

Christ has won heaven for you, and He will raise you again in glory on the Last Day. Then, you will eat of the tree of life restored and enjoy eternal life with God.

The Tree of Life has been designed with flexibility in mind, all to support your congregation’s needs. With a sermon series, Bible study, Sunday School curriculum, and VBS program, you have up to three months of material!

The Tree of Life includes a ten-week sermon series that walks through the story of salvation from creation to our resurrection on the Last Day. Because of this scope, the series is a perfect fit for all audiences. For those who have grown up with these Bible stories, the sermons will deepen their understanding of familiar narratives. For anyone new to the church, the series will introduce them to some of the central events of our Christian faith.

This is a great fit for pastors! The sermons conveniently pair with the Bible study and Sunday School curriculum included in The Tree of Life. Best of all, it can be used at any point of the year, filling in between liturgical seasons or other congregational series.

VBS is a summer highlight, and The Tree of Life delivers! Featuring five of the ten lessons of the children’s curriculum, the VBS program will help you dig even deeper into each Bible account.
